How do I break into the mental health field?

I am a college graduate of 22 years with a degree in psychology and a concentration in criminal justice. I want to pursue a career in consulting, but I know I have to go to school, first degree. For now, I’d like to get some experience in mental health, or even health care sector. What are some reliable options to get my foot in the door of the field of health care?

  1. Possibly as a behavioral health technician, or even as a security guard carrying a load of work dealing with mentally ill? BHT try searching the world of work or a job search monster in your area and see what happens. Good luck!

  2. Try volunteering at a clinic free / low cost in your area, or try the Salvation Army. It ‘a beginning and you can always use people to help out. . . .

  3. Many jobs in health behavior. Any state agency would give teeth to the eyes.

  4. You just have to consult some medical professionals. This is where I suggest you ask your question: http://www. MyHealth forum. com /, Good luck!
